The Dakar Forum on Mathematics and Education

The Dakar Forum on Mathematics and Education is an annual forum which brings together K-12 teachers and students, as well as mathematicians, scientists, civil society, social entrepreneurs and policy makers, to discuss pressing issues on the teaching and learning of mathematics in Senegal and in Africa. Topics include critical pedagogy, urban vs rural divide in access to quality teachers, curriculum development, use of African languages in instruction, technology adoption, among others. A unique feature of this forum is that it is teacher and student led. In this way it aims to add a bottom up voice to issues which are often addressed from top down perspectives.

Our partners and sponsors include the Senegalese-American Bilingual School and Ashoka Sahel.
